Project Recovery Iowa promotes resilience, empowerment and recovery for those affected by natural disasters. Our network of counselors connects you to resources for ongoing support. We provide free counseling and support. Additionally, we supply you with educational resources, information and emotional support.
Our local providers in your community can assist you in the following ways:
Providing emotional support, education, and basic crisis counseling to you and your family and connecting you to community support systems.
Reaching out to you or others in your community through outreach that best serves everyone affected by the disaster to facilitate recovery.
Assessing your needs and making referrals to community-based disaster relief services and agencies to extend support services when necessary.
Providing education to help you understand responses, phases, processes and assistance opportunities related to the disaster.

Project Recovery Iowa provides all services at no cost and partners with the Iowa Concern Hotline for 24/7 access to confidential counseling through a FEMA funded crisis counseling outreach program. SAMHSA provides oversight and support to the Iowa Department of Human Services. Project Recovery Iowa is being provided to your counties by Iowa State University Outreach Extension and Heartland Family Service.
